Reduction Inks and Stains
Oh, gifted basswood tree bark, hours of meditation while delaminating your retted layers. An entire cloth of bark, stripped and sorted into hair-thin ribbon filaments, by section, by length, by color, draped on clotheslines to dry. Cooking extractions from the garden into dyes, reduction inks, and stains. Resurrected indigo from India, homegrown indigo from the yard, ice baths for aqua and green. Quebracho Red, madder, and iron from Ceci, coreopsis and weld and marigold. R and D on a new palette for the next decade. All twisted for safekeeping. 18 months of brain healing from amnesia due to COVID.
